Dans Trois-Pistoles

I got to Trois-Pistoles on saturday night, sunday morning to be precious. Arriving at around 1′o clock in the morning. We (the students) were greeted by a roaring welcoming song by a group of volunteers for the program! It was amazing. After which we got onto a bus and proceeded to drive to the school. Where we were met by our host families. Let me just state, that up till now, this experience has been amazing. I absolutely love my host mother and father, they are just two of the sweetest people on earth. Plus, its an amazing bonus, because I adore my roommates as well. Super cool girls. Fantastic.

Today was the ‘first’ day of classes. I’m in the beginner class, not debutante but definitely not intermediate either. I’m already not understanding about 40% of what my teacher is saying, but when I brought it up he basically said “with due time”. So I’m not worried… much.

I am riding my bike so much that my bum is pretty much permanently numb and in pain at the same time. Fun. Haha.

All stocked up

Its funny how most people stock up for their trip by buying things for themselves to prepare for the journey ahead. I stocked up my mom today for my Quebec trip. With baked goods. Specifically banana bread and muffins.

They are now all chilling (hehe) in the freezer until she deems fit to pull them out, defrost them, and proceed to devour them without me around.

She sweetly asked me last night, around this time, of how she will have to manage with me going away. Not with regards to how much she’ll miss her one and only offspring. But rather that I won’t be here to bake healthy breads and healthy goodies any more.

Isn’t she sweet? Haha, I kid of course. But still. It hit me. I was leaving her stranded here! So of course, this morning after my workout. I squatted my butt in the kitchen and baked for about 2-3 hours and got everything done! Cooled it for the rest of the day, and just popped them in the freezer not too long ago.

We’re all good here now.

Anxious, nervous, scared, but so excited.

The whirlwind of emotions I’m feeling at my upcoming trip.

A while ago I was accepted into the Explore Quebec program. This program is government-funded with the mission to educate more Canadians to become more fluent or at least more comfortable with French.

I am so excited to be able to partake in this program, I am so thankful for this opportunity! At the same time I’m nearly nauseated with a nervous anxiety. I’m going to be staying with a local family rather than living in a university residence. It will be even more of an immersion into a french-fuelled lifestyle. Which is fantastic, I hope they will like me.

Did I mention that English is prohibited? Its a good thing to restrict use of English to release the reliance of it and push for an intense development in French. I just hope I can get by. I’ve got a sinking suspicion that I’m not going to be speaking a lot (like I the chatterbox that I normally am).

All that said. I am nearly in nirvana. I am so content with life. I’m always a pretty happy person but often I get bursts of happiness and a sense of such thankfulness for my life. Right now, as I am typing these words, I am smiling… truly smiling from within. I can feel the beginning of an adventure emerging and I am ready to tackle it head-on. It is going to be a little scary, a lot of stumbling is going to happen, but it will be fantastic.
